9/11

Hi everyone.

While I don't feel compelled to type up my thoughts on 9/11, I do feel that I should post something.

Light a candle tonight in memory of the lives lost on 9/11

Monday night 9/11 many are participating in a candle light vigil to remember the lives lost 5 years ago as a result of the 9/11 tragedy.

I invite you all to participate by placing a candle in your front window tonight at 7:30 PM in your time zone.

Thanks to Colleen for helping organize this.

Is indisgestion a form of child abuse?

I walk to work everyday and part of my trip has me cutting through a 7-11 parking lot.

Yesterday morning I saw what I assume was a mother and son come out of the 7-11 at 8:15 am on a Monday morning and the son, who couldn't have been more than 7 years old, had a Chili Dog with onions and what appeared to be jalepeno peppers for breakfast.

Really?

I understand that sometimes parents have very busy schedules and can't make a good breakfast for their children, but honestly - a chili dog? If you are stopping at 7-11 anyway, there is something in that place more healthy than a chili dog.

I feel really sorry for that kid.

Isn't the layout amazing?!

I want to give a big thanks to my friend Jessica for designing and builind the new webbpage.org layout from setting me up with moveable type all the way to designing the layout for me!

Thanks so much, Jess. I love it!

Jessica and I became friends nearly 10 years ago online via Rent and have kept in touch over the years. We've had a few periods where we haven't talked much but then one of us contacts the other and it's like we never missed a beat.

Thanks again, J!

GIANTS WIN!

Go Eli!

Giants Over Eagles, 30-24
Stuck in hole from which they might never extricated themselves, the Giants today lifted themselves up and earned an improbable and dramatic victory.

Trailing 24-7 early in the fourth quarter and facing the prospect of an 0-2 start and a two-game deficit in the NFC East race, the Giants engineered an unlikely and inspired comeback that culminated with 3:11 left in overtime, when Eli Manning threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress to give the visitors an incredible 30-24 triumph over the Philadelphia Eagles in a stunned and silent Lincoln Financial Field.

The Giants, who seemed doomed to winless two-game start, are instead 1-1 and tied for first place in the division as they prepare to head to Seattle for next week’s meeting with the defending NFC champion Seahawks.

Philadelphia is also 1-1.

The Giants took possession at their own 15 with 9:55 remaining in the extra period following an Eagles punt. Brandon Jacobs’ nine-yard run moved the ball to the Philadelphia 21-yard line. But Tim Carter’s holding penalty on the next play set the Giants back.

On third-and-six from the 26, center Shaun O’Hara was called for a false start. That left the Giants with a third-and-11 at the 31. On the next play, Manning lofted the game-winning touchdown to Burress, who out-jumped cornerback Sheldon Brown for the ball.

Manning threw three touchdown passes, two to Amani Toomer and the game-winner to Burress. Tim Carter recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Giants and Jay Feely kicked two a field goal for the Giants.

NFL Picks Week 3

Since Lyndsei asked...I'll post my picks for this week. Though Lynz, you aren't going to be happy...

Washington at Houston
NY Jets at Buffalo
Green Bay at Detroit
Jacksonville at Indianapolis
Chicago at Minnesota
Tennessee at Miami
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Carolina at Tampa Bay
Baltimore at Cleveland
NY Giants at Seattle
St. Louis at Arizona
Philadelphia at San Francisco
Denver at New England
Atlanta at New Orleans

My Falcons over the Saints pick might be a bit of a stretch. I honestly think the Falcons are a much better team than the Saints right now, but I can't discount the sociological aspects of this game. The first game back in New Orleans. U2 and Green Day doing the pre-show. The people of New Orleans really are going to be fired up and I think Brees, Bush and Horn are going to ride that energy to a victory. Sorry Lynz. ;)

Raiders Suspend Practice Due to Unknown Substance

OAKLAND , (CA)--Oakland Raiders football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach Art Shell immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to Raider players was the GOAL LINE.Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.
