Blog to Texas- entry 1!

Well, the offers have been signed, resignation letters submitted, and notice given. It's official- the Webbs are moving to Texas!

We're kind of in limbo now- even though we're leaving, we haven't lined up a new place to live yet. Since the Company is moving us, we don't have to pack or anything, so we just wait. And technically, they haven't announced that I'm joining the Company, so it's almost like this isn't real. Really odd to imagine that in 6 weeks we'll be in Dallas.

Things I keep thinking about:

It was (and is) sad to leave my current job. I'm going to miss everyone like mad, though I did make it Weds-Friday without getting choked up. It is going to be tough to focus these next few weeks.

To RV or not to RV? On the one hand, it would be miserable to fly with two cats. On the other- two days in an RV also has the potential to be inescapably miserable. RV makes a lot of sense as we would have somewhere to leave the fur faces when the movers are doing their thing. Still, 21 hours of driving. Have to decide soon.

Work clothes! I have about a year's worth of casual Friday outfits- jeans and all. I have maybe two Monday- Thursday "business casual" outfits. What am I going to do without my jeans 4 days out of the week? Can I dress business casual without feeling like a tool?

I love the way Nolan's fur smells. Not Texas relevant, but relevant because he's sitting on my arms as I type.

More later.

Paige Webb vs. Audrey Hepburn

Pop Quiz: Match the measurement to waifish Audrey Heburn, or the fabulous Mr. Paige:

1) Foot:
a) 10 1/3 inches
b) 2 inches

2) Hips:
a) 18 inches
b) 34 inches

3) Chest:
a) 34 inches
b) 19 inches

4) Waist:
a) 23 inches
b) 20 inches

Answers:

1) You know the answer here. Paige has the dainty 2 inch feet. In contrast, Audrey Hepburn told People Magazine once that she was very self-conscious about her large feet.

2) Another easy one- Audrey had the 34 inch hips in 1953.

3) Yes, Audrey Hepburn had the healthy 34 inch chest. Mr. Paige measured in with 19 inches- a perfectly respectable kitty chest size.

4) If you guessed Mr. Paige has a 20 inch waist, you'd be wrong! Yes, Paige has a larger waist than Ms. Hepburn did, by a full 3 inches.

Is this not the most adorable thing you've ever seen?

I mean really?

Leased

The house that we think we wanted the most has been leased already. On top of that the current listings have been a little bit uninspiring. We're going out to Texas the weekend of July 13th in order to look at some houses with our real estate agent.

This all still seems so unreal because there is nothing tangible to grab on to as we go through this process. I assume it will stay that way until we actually have an address and an idea of what our space is going to be like.

That being said - we did find a new house while looking at listings that we both like quite a bit - and to top it all off, it's also for sale. We want to rent for the first year that we are in Texas, but we'd love to rent a house that is also for sale in case we love the house. By renting the first year we feel like we can get an idea of the areas and where we want to live.

Here is a picture of that house:

We're still waiting for details on the RV and we're playing phone tag with the moving company - so it's in motion. I'm just starting to freak out a bit due to being at the complete mercy of a handful of other people. I know it's what they do for a living, but I feel like I need to have my hand in it a bit more than I have thus far, ya know?

Anyway - I'll be back in a bit with a new picture of something around here as I continue with my attempt at photography as a hobby.

Things I likely won't see in Texas...

This is a cell phone tower in the parking lot behind my apartment complex. Fancy, huh?

The main thing that I take from this video is that I really need to start focusing on losing weight again. ;) Honestly - stress eating is catching up!

Want to throw out the first pitch at a Minnesota Twins game?

A member over at RotoJunkie who works with the homeless in Minnesota is leading a fundraising drive and auction to support homeless teens in the Twin Cities area. This is a great cause and if those of you who live in Minnesota ::coughColleencough:: could pass this along to people who might be able to help out, I'd really appreciate it.

Here are the details:
For the third year in a row, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is teaming up with the Minnesota Twins to raise money for services helping homeless teens.

As part of the fundraising effort, the Minnesota Twins have offered the opportunity for the winning bidder to throw out the first pitch. The winning bidder will receive two tickets to the game and be able to bring one guest down on the field while they throw out the first pitch. This opportunity is for the July 13th game against the Oakland A’s.

For ticket information, you can download an order form at: www.lssmn.org/twins. Or you can purchase tickets on-line.

For ticket information or more details about EBay auction for the opportunity to throw out the first pitch, contact Steve (In_the_Corn) at steve.griffiths@lssmn.org.
