As some of you know Anji and I went to New York last weekend to see the final Broadway performance of Rent and see Clay and Sara.
The trip was quite unprecedented as I did the following things:
A) Actually went.
B) Didn't Xanax Up for the Flight
C) Voluntarily took the window seat.
D) Actually went to Rent.
E) Didn't Xanax Up for the Show.
Outstanding!
I'm not going to really go into a lot of detail about the show. Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while or know us well knows how much it meant to us. We felt very grateful to go see the final performance and take the unborn spawn to "see" the show that brought mommy and daddy together, but to be quite honest - we moved on from the show almost 10 years ago.
There wasn't much sadness from Anji and I during the performance. We watched it almost with a grin. As we discussed after the fact while a lot of the younger fans were very sad about the show closing we were looking at it from the perspective of look how far we've come, remembering the ups and downs and the friends we made during "our time" with the show and almost like saying goodbye to an old friend and leaving on good terms. It was nice.
It was also quite nice to see Alex whom we hadn't seen in over a decade!
For me personally, it was cool to finally see Anthony Rapp on the Nederlander Stage.
Now...for pictures of the trip:
The view from the Hotel Mela as we dealt with Hurricane Hannah weather on Saturday. I took this hanging out the window of our 16th floor room. Anji wasn't thrilled.

This is outside the Nederlander Theatre for the final lottery before Rent played it's last performance later that evening.

As can also be seen on the WebbBaby.org site, this is Anji giving us a bump watch outside the theatre:

Here is an iPhone shot of the stage during Intermission. If you want better (more cavalier) pictures, there is no shortage of them on the internets. :)

The Marquee of the Nederlander Theatre at night. This picture was taken by Sara shortly before the show was over:

Anji looking "blue" thanks to the weird LED reading lights at the Hotel Mela:

Here is Anji last Sunday (9.07.08) outside the Nederlander Theatre before the final lottery for the final performance of Rent.
More on the NY Weekend will be posted on Webbpage.org soon.
Just a quick heads up...we should know the gender on Monday if WebbSpawn cooperates and shows us his or her bits.
Well, we went to Window in the Womb in Southlake today to have our sonogram and to learn the gender of the baby. We learned that it's a BOY!
Many of you probably know that we were hoping for a girl, but there are absolutely no problems here as we've already shifted to boy mode. We had a short moment of "down" and then just had to readjust the images of the future that we had in our heads. No big deal at all.
We don't have a name picked out 100% yet, but we have a couple of strong possibilities and we'll let you know when we know.
Now...the Window in the Womb package included a DVD of the sonogram session which I've edited and uploaded for you guys to enjoy.
In addition to the video - we also have several still photos for your to check out. You can click on any of them to make them bigger.
Love this guy. Become a fan on Facebook!
As you can see, we've updated webbbaby.org to reflect our new blue view and the unveiling of the Webb Spawn's name: Cooper Alexander.
We love living in Texas. We've decided to start a family and plant some roots here and stay in the DFW area for the long haul.
However, every now and then I get a reminder that makes me go, "Holy hell, I'm living in Texas."
I opened my curtains on Sunday morning to see the people across the street with "McCain/Palin" yard signs up. They look cheap, crappy and horrid - despite my obvious disagreement with the views. I would never want to take anyone's right to display that kind of thing away (even though our HoA prohibits yard signs of any message to be up), but man is that an eye sore.
In related news - I've been ordering from barackobama.com this morning. ;)
...we came to our senses and merged webbpage and webbbaby.
Originally, we wanted to have a place for baby updates exclusively and not bore the people who aren't into baby news with all that goo-goo-gah-gah info. However, we discovered that most people who visit this site care about us and wanted to be a part of both the baby news and the McCain/Palin rants - so congrats. It's all here in one easy to skip location.
This past weekend we spent a lot of time working on Cooper's room. We even ended up doing a little Martha-esque crafting.
We had been looking for some curtains that matched our decor and kept coming up blank. So, we decided to head to Hancock Fabrics and see if we could find anything that worked for us.
We found a very cute fabric that was blue with little stars on it and the border at the bottom had little owl's sitting in trees. It really matched what we were building so we got that. I pulled out Anji's sewing machine and she created one of the panels on Sunday. It really looks great.
I used some of the excess fabric to cover light switch covers and power outlet covers so they would match. I simply used a spray adhesive and laid the fabric on and smoothed out the bumps. It's turning out pretty well.
We'll get some pictures up this weekend as I'm still waiting for some wall clings that I ordered that are supposed to be here on Thursday and we want to get the extra curtain panel up. We might be able to unveil Casa de Cooper later this week though!
Contrary to what several tabloid sites were running yesterday - Anji and I are not suspending the pregnancy due to the Nation's current economic crisis.
We believe that parents should be able to multi-task and not be overwhelmed by one problem in a world of millions.
So...we will continue on with growing and devolping Cooper in light of this "9/11 like financial crisis".*, **
*Yes, someone on MSNBC actually referred to it as that last night.
**To be ABUNDANTLY clear - this is satire. If you thought it wasn't and were ready to type a scathing and confusing email/comment - step back, turn on the news and chuckle.
Sorry for the commercial, but it's worth it.
It's 8:14 am.
I've already had a healthy oatmeal and fruit breakfast at Ihop and ran a mile at the gym.
Crazy.
We finally finished it this evening and decided to share some of the images with you. In it you can see the curtains that Anji made, the switch plate covers that we made, etc. I'm very excited to have this come to fruition as I designed this room in my head and it came out almost exactly like what I saw. Enjoy!
